PowerFix Inc.
Couch co-op chaos about recognizing and replacing bad energy-label items.
About The Project
PowerFix Inc. was a first-year CMGT project where our team built a fast-paced couch co-op game inspired by Overcooked. Players take on the role of a group of clumsy “bodgers” who race through a house, find appliances with bad energy labels and replace them with better ones. The goal was to teach players about energy efficiency in a way that felt playful and silly instead of educational or text heavy.
Tools Used
- Unity
- Blender
- Photoshop
What I Did
I created most of the 3D work for this project. This includes the character models, environmental assets and props. I also worked on the character designs, making sure the bodgers looked iconic and a bit goofy. On top of that, I helped shape the level layouts so the rooms encouraged moving around together, bumping into each other and creating that fun co-op chaos.
Design Highlights
- Character design: Modeled the characters and designed their look, aiming for something silly and memorable.
- Environment assets: Created the props and environmental assets that make up the house.
- Level design: Worked on level layouts that encourage teamwork and fast movement.
- Visual direction: Helped define the visual style for the game.
What I Liked About This Project
This was my first co-op game and it was great to see people immediately understand how to play and start laughing within seconds. Designing the characters was especially fun. Making the bodgers look a bit ridiculous helped set the tone of the whole game. Seeing players learn about energy labels simply through playing made the project feel both fun and useful.
